Acupuncture is a 2,500 year old medical treatment method which facilitates healing through needling certain points on the body. I am often asked how acupuncture works. The simple answer is... you heal yourself. Based on ancient diagnostic techniques such as pulse and tongue diagnosis along with an in depth consultation, the acupuncturist is able to choose certain points which will facilitate healing and pain reduction. I have found that one needle in the right point can alleviate long term or acute pain, and clear many symptoms.
It is simply the needle unstagnating a meridian or moving qi and blood and introducing endorphines and other healing properties into the immediate area. Many of my patients are amazed at how effective acupunture is. They usually fall asleep within minutes, relaxing to music as they feel the effects of acupuncture. Some say they feel energy moving in certian areas of their body or they just feel so relaxed they fall asleep. It is a very unique experience. If all other modalities have failed give acupuncture a try!
